ahhh it be lovely and sunny today so im gonna stick up a version of sunny..

found in a field in norfolk for 50p the l.p this tune comes off is a real belter!! its meant to be pretty tricky to turn up for cheap but definitely worth the effort!

ode to billy joe,heavy spaceman,finger sauce(with breakzZZZ) and the radgie electric chicken are all more than worthy of a listen ... if yuo like your easy listening with funky bass and chunky drums this is a real goodie...

soz for being lazy last week but i been working on some mickses and they took away my time...today we going for some kraut rock action with 2 songs from amon duul 2's yeti lp...amon duul 2 emerged from the ashes of commune band amon duul who released some pretty out there lps at the end of the sixties.. amon duul 2 however toned it down a notch tho .while the sounds were still pretty experimental they managed to add some more traditional song structures into the spaced out improvisations..
fist up is archangels thunderbird with its clattery break,heavy riffs and proto punk feel..for some reason i really like the vocal performance from female singer Renate Knaup even tho it sounds quite manly(tho high in pitch).just a nice song to rock out to with good dynamics...

second up is she came through the chimney.. one of them dreamy drugged up hippie jams for sheeeeezyyyy..guitar,bass,some wordless vocal snatches and a twisted violin?? some smack music for when your monged out!!!

today we have an italian prog offering from the mighty banco del mutuo soccorso ...at first i found the singing of Francesco Di Giacomo quite annoying but you really do grow to love it... the best bit of banco is definitely the duelling synths/keyboards of Vitorio Nocenzi and Giani Nocenz who manage to coax some lovely textures out of their electronic machines..

the tune i've put up is a bit of an epic coming in at 8 mins+ but it's really like 2 songs in one anyway... it starts off on some angular goblinesque horror prog tip with some nice synth work and even a touch of haunted violin and cracked piano coming in from time to time.

the second half is where it's at tho with weird spooky piano ,creepy synth,dope bass and emotional italian vocals ..this is like the music i imagine in my head!! so moody and yet so beautiful at the same time...why cant more bands come up with shit like this.

todays tune comes from an 8 disc readers digest box set called spectacular t.v themes or some crap like that.Anyways if you ever see it remove disc 4 "thrillers" and release it from it's musty prison!! i picked this cos me an my mate russel were talking about stevie wonder the other day..

he said he'd seen some video of stevie rocking out and that it was a shame how he was always so restrained on record..well this is stevies inbred cousin that punches you and steals your last tab..

It starts off with a little drum break with some fonky bass then moves into the super squelchy moog action before breaking out the clavinet for a bit of cheese.... after this point it loses the plot for a bit but dont worry it's not long till it treats you to a second round of the clavinet and moog.

also the original version is often found cheaply on b.b.c 45 and also on a few b.b.c themes lp...

b.b.c. 45s piss me off tho everytime you see one you hope its quiller , monkey magic,radiophonic or some other goodie but it's always bloody chi mai grrrrrrrrrr

todays offering to the wood gods is a epic 7 min folk spooker from french prog/folk band catharsis..
i dunno nowt about them but the first 2 lps they released contain some strange music .Their songs usually consist of guitar ,organ ,wordless vocals/chanting and a funny almost tribal drum sound...
anyways this one comes along like a lost ennio morricone tune with a real dreamy and lonesome sort of vibe.ghostly whistles,strummy guitar and an almost funeral parlour style organ . It gradually intensifies into a climax of moans groans ,strange noises and drum rolls ....
this is pure creepy vibes,the perfect soundtrack for the onset of apocalypse and depressed days when you want to wallow in doom

here we have my first blog post and also the reason for the name of this blog..
this tune is an early version of the song that would feature on "in the court of the crimson king"
that version progs it up and is still a very beautiful song but this version is much folkier,shorter and nicer i reckon...
recorded in a front room this Judy Dyble voiced version is pretty raw but floats along nicely with the drums loud enough i i i in da mix for da beatheadzzz ..shame she didn't get on with fripp (neither did mccdonald and giles) and left the group :(

ta to specs for putting me up on this one..it hasn't left my headies for well over a year!!!
